The Basics of Traffic Generation for Internet Marketing

Part 2 of 3

In Part 1 titled The Basics of Internet Marketing, we left off talking generally, to lay the foundation for an at home small business opportunity.  In Part 2, we’ll talk more about specifics of generating traffic for earn money ways.

Getting traffic for your at home small business opportunity from search engine results and type in traffic is difficult, because there are usually hundreds and possibly hundreds of thousands of earn money ways websites that might be in your niche.  They all can’t be on page one of search results.  So, search engines rank sites according to the relevancy of the site’s “content” to the keywords searched for.  But as daunting as this may seem, IT IS possible to find yourself on the coveted first page of search engine results.

Most traffic that comes to an at home small business opportunity website is generally either from one of four ways.  Those earn money ways are search engine results, type in traffic, links on other sites that lead to yours, and paid advertising.  Of course, there are additional (traditional, which still works), sources for traffic generation, like press releases, publicity, celebrity endorsements, etc.  And believe it or not there are even other ways of generating traffic to your web store, but all these I’m sorry are not discussed in this Earn Money Ways article.  What we will discuss is PPC (pay per click advertising).  We did talk about search engine results in the article titled, Search Engines, What you May Not Know–A Broad Overview here.

“Type in traffic” takes two forms.  The first form is when somebody opens up their browser and in the URL address box they type in a web address, like earnmoneyways.com for example, and hits ENTER.  That person will be taken to Earn Money Ways  dot Com’s website (here).

The second form of type in traffic comes in the from similar to the first form, but not exact.  This form of type in traffic, searcher types inside the web address box still, but this time they use the URL box like it was a search engine box (yes you can do that), and they type in their search phrase there, leaving off the dot com or whatever and putting spaces between the words, so it might look like this: “at home small business,” and then they hit ENTER.  (Sometimes people treat the URL box as a search engine box and type in their search term there.)  And the search engine brings up results.  And if somebody typed in “earn money ways” for example in the URL box, hopefully the search engines will contain the website “earnmoneyways.com” on page one of the results.  Or at least, that’s the idea, for this type of type-in traffic.

“Back-links” are links from other websites that link to your website and is very good for SEO purposes, and for attracting traffic to your website from the traffic of other websites.  Again this is free traffic.

Just how you get back-links to your website? . . .Well, it too is a whole course in itself and will be addressed in more detail in another article on Earn Money Ways called Link Building For SEO.  Just keep in the back of your mind that this is something you’ll want to learn more about, should you want to go the route of free traffic to your site.
